From: "Margo Miller" <mghlee@worldnet.att.net> To: <TexScot@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 06, 2004 11:09 PM I don't know how many of you knew Shorty (Dean) MacAlpine but I am sad to report that he died Monday. His funeral service will be in Mineral Wells at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home Chapel on Friday at 11:00 am with burial afterwards at Woodland Park. Shorty was a kind and wonderful friend at the games and he will be missed. I'm sorry that I do not have any more information but the funeral home's number is 940-325-4422 if you would like to call. Michael and I will be attending the funeral and I, for one, will wear my tartan sash in remembrance of a very special man. Margo Miller SW Regional Commissioner Clan Macpherson Margo, I don't know if I have had the pleasure of making your acquaintance, but if Shorty was a friend of yours, then my opinion of you starts out very high indeed! Dean "Shorty" MacAlpin, was one of the first of the "clan tent cavaliers" I met on my first trip to Arlington in 1992, and we struck up a very nice friendship over the years. His warmth, charm and infectious laugh endeared him to many, and I can truly say that he was a special friend. I will miss him, and will remember him as the lively, dancin' flirt that was Shorty before his medical problems took him off the dance card. If there is a dance floor in heaven, I'll bet he's already scoping it out. I just hope that he doesn't have to drink Cluny anymore. Unless he wants to, that is! Our community has a rather large hole in it, and my heart goes out to his family and all the MacAlpins. They have lost a trooper. Doug Beaton Regional Vice President Clan MacLeod Society, USA, Inc. |
